An introduction to facial fat grafting

For people who want to delay or reduce the sagging of the face and the formation of wrinkles, there is a procedure called facial fat grafting. Plastic surgeons take small portions of fat from the stomach and thighs and inject to the skin on the face. The goal of the procedure is to allow for more volume on the face, thereby restoring a youthful appearance.

The surgical procedure, in fact, has two benefits. First, it reduces sagging and wrinkling. Second, it takes away fat from places where patients don’t want it. While patients normally undergo facial fat grafting to look more youthful and appealing, other patients who have suffered traumatic injuries on their faces and have deformities also undergo the procedure.

Talking to a facial plastic surgeon is the first step for people who are not happy with the way they look. Through consultation, patients can learn about the procedure and be warned about the minor side-effects that naturally come with plastic surgery, such as a bit of scarring and bruising. Patients can also learn about preparations for the procedure and what to do after, to ensure a speedy and safe recovery.

Facial fat grafting is a common procedure that plastic surgeons have performed on countless people from all walks of life, for a variety of reasons. But just like any surgical procedure, it’s best for patients to do research before committing to it.
