Confidence And Other Amazing Benefits Of Getting Facial Surgery

People have facial surgery for a number of different reasons. Some procedures correct facial deformities, while others repair damage due to a traumatic injury. Others undergo facial surgery for purely aesthetic reasons.

Below is a quick look at the benefits of facial surgery.

Confidence: Many people who have undergone facial surgery want to feel more confident about their appearance. In fact, studies show that after cosmetic facial surgery, patients generally feel better about themselves.

Corrections: As mentioned earlier, facial surgery is a way to correct genetic defects or disfigurement. Deformities such as bat ears and cleft palate and lip have corresponding surgeries to correct them. Not only do these surgeries eliminate the odd-looking features, but these also serve to ease discomfort.

Health: As previously mentioned, facial surgery can ease discomfort, which leads to better health. Take cleft palates for example. Not only can surgery close the gap of the birth defect, but the procedure can also improve both the breathing and eating of the infant. Rhinoplasty, the surgery that fixes problems with the nose, can take away any obstructions brought about by genetic disorders.

An introduction to facial fat grafting

For people who want to delay or reduce the sagging of the face and the formation of wrinkles, there is a procedure called facial fat grafting. Plastic surgeons take small portions of fat from the stomach and thighs and inject to the skin on the face. The goal of the procedure is to allow for more volume on the face, thereby restoring a youthful appearance.

The surgical procedure, in fact, has two benefits. First, it reduces sagging and wrinkling. Second, it takes away fat from places where patients don’t want it. While patients normally undergo facial fat grafting to look more youthful and appealing, other patients who have suffered traumatic injuries on their faces and have deformities also undergo the procedure.

Talking to a facial plastic surgeon is the first step for people who are not happy with the way they look. Through consultation, patients can learn about the procedure and be warned about the minor side-effects that naturally come with plastic surgery, such as a bit of scarring and bruising. Patients can also learn about preparations for the procedure and what to do after, to ensure a speedy and safe recovery.

Facial fat grafting is a common procedure that plastic surgeons have performed on countless people from all walks of life, for a variety of reasons. But just like any surgical procedure, it’s best for patients to do research before committing to it.

Brow Lift: Turning That Frown Upside Down

Many of the main indicators of aging can be found on a person’s face. One of the most common (and most annoying) of these indicators are frown lines. These lines are the bane of many women since daily skincare routines aren’t enough to keep these lines from appearing. Also, many of these daily skincare routines are frustratingly temporary.

It’s a good thing there’s the brow lift, which is a more permanent solution to frown lines.

Brow and foreheads are the first and most affected areas of the face when it comes to lines. As people age, the slightest expression can curl the skin into these lines. This loss of elasticity also causes the eyebrows to go down and droop. The result is that a person looks more tired than they really are. Other factors that contribute to the wrinkling include sun and wind exposure, and gravity.

A brow lift “lifts” the skin that’s sagging on the forehead, upper eyelids, and eyebrows, to give a person a younger look. Brow lift comes in two types – classic and endoscopic. Classic brow lift is done with a single cut from ear level, around the hairline. Facial plastic surgeons know where to cut for minimal scarring. Endoscopic lift, however, utilizes shorter cuts in the scalp. A small camera will be inserted into a cut, and the surgeon will perform the procedure from there.

Plastic Surgery History 101: About Sushruta

It’s time for a bit of a history lesson. Modern plastic surgery is often credited to Jacques Josef and the group of individuals during his time who invented new ways to improve the appearance of people. But there was one man who practiced facial reconstructive surgery way before them.

Almost 2000 years before Joseph and company laid the foundation of facial plastic surgery as the world knows it today, Sushruta, a physician from ancient India, had been helping people with facial defects through plastic surgery. Historians believe that Sushruta is the first person in history to have ever done it.

In fact, the “Susruta-Samhita,” which is based on the work of Sushruta, is one of the most significant surviving documents on the practice. The main characteristic of the “Susruta-Samhita” that historians and medical experts find mind-boggling is how accurate the accounts are to plastic surgery itself.

According to the Mahabharata, Sushruta comes from a line of healers and sages. His father, Visvamitra himself was known as a legendary sage and progenitor of the Brahmanas.

Sushruta has been a subject of countless research and studies in the past, and there have been instances wherein it was difficult to separate the man from the myth. Though this may be, most historians agree that the accounts of his medical procedures were too accurate to be made from anyone’s imagination.
